A Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) is the minimum qualification to pursue a career as a professional pilot. Ardmore Helicopters will tailor a training course to teach you all the practical and theoretical skills required to achieve your CPL.
Eligibility
CAA Rules state that you must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible to sit your CPL Flight Test. You must also meet the following criteria:
› Class 1 Aviation Medical.
› Be competent in spoken English to CAA requirements.
Theory
To obtain your CPL, you need to pass the following written examinations:
› Helicopter Technical Knowledge
› Aviation Law
› Navigation
› Meteorology
› Human Factors
› Helicopter Principles of Flight
Part time one-on-one tuition is offered, at times to suit the individual.
Practical
A minimum of 150 hours flight time (including the flight time obtained from the PPL) is required by the Civil Aviation Authority. This training will include the following:
› Navigation
› Mountain Operations
› Sling Load
› Advanced Dual Instruction (inc emergency procedures)
Course Length
At Ardmore Helicopters Ltd the theory and practical training programmes are tailored to meet individual needs however you could expect to have your Commercial Pilots Licence within 12 months if studying full time, or on a timeframe determined by you if studying part time.
