Ardmore Helicopters Ltd operates the Bell 206B Jet Ranger helicopter, which is available for turbine ratings. You must complete a minimum of five hours training for your first single engine turbine rating, or a minimum of one hour for subsequent turbine ratings. Refer “Type Ratings” for further information.
Although a Night Rating is not a requirement for the PPL and CPL, it is a great skill to have. Having a Night Rating also opens up additional commercial opportunities such as frost flying, and many commercial operators now require you to have one. Some companies, eg Rescue, may also require a Night Cross Country Rating, and Ardmore Helicopters is one of the few schools able to conduct this training.
During the rating you will learn all the normal and emergency procedures. You also get the opportunity to fly to various locations in the Auckland Region including flying around Auckland City, which is a truly remarkable sight.
